Oil India says Assam gas well fire finally put out 172 days after blowout

Chandigarh, November 15

Oil India Limited said on Sunday that it had successfully put out a major fire that had broken out  at a natural gas well at Assam’s Tinsukia in June.

A blaze broke out at Baghjan gas well in Assam on June 9, killing two firefighters and wounding three and sparking fears of more damage as it spread to adjoining areas.
