New Delhi, November 25

Doctors are reporting a heavy rush of patients who first left their Covid symptoms unattended and later thronged hospitals with complications like high fever, severe body and muscle aches, stroke, leg thrombosis, lung fibrosis and cardiac involvement.

Atul Kakar, vice-chairperson, Internal Medicine at Ganga Ram Hospital, today warned against ignoring symptoms as India’s Covid load crossed 92 lakh and positivity rate fell to 6.84 per cent.

“In the last month alone we have treated scores of Covid patients with induced moderate to major complications who never took a Covid test earlier. Covid antibody test in all these patients was found positive. These patients came with involvement of lungs, nervous system, heart and blood vessels. Many patients who had lung involvement required oxygen term supplementation and few required special medications medication. A major complication in such patients was chronic fatigue symptom. Most of these people did not get tested thinking symptoms will resolve on their own,” Kakar said.

Experts say people with mild symptoms should not take it lightly and should get tested immediately.

Although in majority cases, Covid is a self-limiting disease, testing and supervision is essential in all patients, said Kakar as cases rose to 92, 22, 216 with 1,34,699 deaths (481 deaths in 24 hours).

Delhi continues to lead the daily Covid surge, followed by Maharashtra, Kerala, Bengal, Rajasthan and Haryana.
